Hirokazu Kanazawa, Kancho, 10th Dan. one of the world ‘s most renowned and respected traditional karate masters alive, set up the Shotokan Karate-do International Federation in 1977. SKIF is now the worlds largest Shotokan Karate Association under one chief instructor, having over 5 million members in over 107 countries.
The SKIF - Philippines was recognized as an official affiliate of the federation in 1991. The Central Colleges of the Philippines dojo was inaugurated as its head quarters in the country. In 1992, Kanazawa, Kancho visited the dojo.
Ranks and belts awarded by SKIF-Philippines are recognized and honored by the main headquarters of SKIF in Tokyo, Japan and major traditional karate clubs world wide.
SKIF-Philippines is an active member of the Philippine Karate Federation (PKF).
SKIF-Philippines provides competent instructors and coaches who are well versed in the SKIF system. Instructions are exactly the same as those given in Tokyo, Japan and all SKIF clubs worldwide.

SKIF maintains the BUDO nature of Karate and frowns upon the growing emphasis of commercialism.
