Braving the Storm at the 2nd Okazaki Cup ISKF/KDA Invitational
The aims of the SKIF are to foster and develop the practice of Karate as a BUDO (Martial Arts or Martial ways) form. SKIF students take part in competitions, but the sport aspect of Karate is not allowed to take precedence over the more traditional aspects of Karate. SKIF maintains the BUDO nature of Karate and frowns upon the growing emphasis of commercialism.
Keeping in mind the words of master Funakoshi "Do not think you have to win, think, rather, that you do not have to lose.", we are once again successful in our latest campaign at the 2nd Okazaki Cup ISKF/KDA Invitational held last February 15, 2009 at the Xavier School, San Juan, Metro Manila. Team SKIF won 8 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze medals.
Gold-Silver finish for SKIF by Elsha Bertillo and Joyce Del Ayre in the 12-13 years old women's kumite.
Gold-silver finish for the 18 year old above Intermediate kata event from Bryan and Randy of SKIF- Central Colleges of the Philippines.
